| For many years, the brothers of the Delta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity dreamed of a chapter house near campus. For much of the early 1990's, we rented a warehouse in which we held some of our meetings and most of our parties. That was nearly 10 miles away. Those were fun times, but the warehouse was never truly us; it never had that special FIU Sammy touch and so we waited for the day when it would become more realistic for us to have such a unique facility. Perhaps we'd buy something nearby because we'd never have a chance to actually build our own home on campus, that is until 1999. Early in that year, FIU administrators made a commitment to on campus Greek housing , allocating for that purpose five parcels of land, which they promptly made available to the first five Greek...
